Jitender Arya, founder, Arya Sons UV Coating, said, “Everyone from the industry suggested the DGM folder-gluer during our search for a folding-gluing machine last year. We sought advice from users who are using both European brands and DGM. Thus, the purchase of the machine became a minor part of the entire deal. We are using the folder-gluer for the last six months without any trouble.”
He added that the company has been producing four and six-corner; lock-bottom and three-ply cartons on the machine.
DGM SmartFold 1100SL model is a fully automatic and future-ready machine. In the present configuration, this machine is equipped to run a straight line, crash lock-bottom, double wall, CD/Pocket and four-, six-corner design cartons for both solid boards up to 800-gsm and micro fluted cartons up to 15-mm folded thickness.
Arya used to work in Atlas Cycle and started his printing journey with a varnish cylinder machine in 1987 from Baljit Nagar, Delhi. Gradually, he diversified into lamination and bigger varnish machines. In 2001, he diversified into UV curing and coating with the machines from UV Graphic Technologies and never looked back.
He said, “I am happy to establish the industry and generate employment. Drupa 2016 was the key year, and we invested in a Komori printing press, CTP and Scodix, an investment of around Rs 10-crore.”
He said though the company does job work, it uses the best raw material and doesn’t compromise on quality. “We are happy with less work. After adding those machines, our production has increased by 100%. We always follow three parameters — mileage, price and quality,” he said.
Arya’s younger son, Mohit, who has seen the printing business since his childhood, has recently shifted to the UK. There, he found an opportunity for printed and furnished cartons in the UK and made a business plan. “Now, we are supplying him cartons from here. We wanted to increase our exports. The overseas market needs quality production, and they are ready to pay,” Arya said.
He added that the Covid years were a little difficult. “The DGM machine is our first investment after six years. Now, we are focusing on exports. The first consignment has been sent and our client is happy,” he added.
Arya said further investment and expansion will be planned after Drupa 2024.
“The next generation will take the march forward. After a journey of more than 50 years in the industry, I am glad. We will be reaching Rs 25-crore turnover this year,” he concluded.
