Astha Packaging invests in India’s first Suprasetter A75 of 5080dpi
New Delhi-based Astha Packaging, strengthened its pre-press by installing a CTP platesetter of 5080 dpi, Heidelberg Suprasetter A75. It is the first of its kind in the country.

The 12- year-old packaging printing company has specialises in metalised boards, plastic sheets, 3D lenticular and soft PVC. Anil Narang, director, Astha Packaging, said, “Innovation is the key, today. It is essential to create new products and applications to maintain a stronghold in the industry. Our motto is simple - ‘be different'. The platesetter with 5080dpi will give us strength to explore the new verticals like UV printing and 3D lenticular.”
5080dpi option has been developed specifically for security printing applications to enable smooth printing of very fine lines for guilloches, microlines and micro lettering. These extremely fine structures are used primarily in the printing of banknotes, shares certificates, official stickers and tickets.
The In-house three multicolour Heidelberg printing presses with dedicated UV press with a size of 74 format at Astha, are capable to print metalised boards, plastic , PET, soft PVC and in fact any substrate in sheets with skilled and well-trained operators.
An economics graduate, Anil Narang, started his career by procuring printing orders from companies in the North-East for his father's publishing company. He grew the annual turnover by 12 fold. Now, his son Anshuman, has taken over the charge of sales and marketing after completing his engineering, MBA and a stint as a senior consultant with an European company for one year.
"Our presses are configured to print UV in each unit which makes it unique for us in terms of implementing various special applications. We are also printing on various substrates with varied thicknesses. With the new press and platesetter, we have been able to reinforce our clients' trust in us for offering them the best product and unique finish,” included Narang.
Astha has further expansion plans and eyes exports. Recently, the specialised printing company opted for 5-colour with coater UV Heidelberg printing press in 74 format.
The packaging printing company works in two separate facilities with a combine area of 20,000 sq/ft with more than 100 people and expecting more than 50% growth after the expansion and up-gradation.
