Bhavesh Gandhi of B K Sales said: "The onset of digital printing induced Sihl to develop papers reinforced by a plastic film for making durable labels that can be printed on by thermal transfer, flexo, offset or laser printers."
Picofilm stands for a range of coated films, mostly polyester (PET), of different calipers and surface characteristics. The total range of Picofilm has been designed to run on all laser printing systems, regardless of the toner technology.
"Picofilm is suitable for digital laser printers from Xerox, Kodak, Canon, Konica-Minolta and OKI, which operate with dry toner as much as HP Indigo with a liquid toner system," added Gandhi. The application of Picofilm is being used for tickets, tags and cards. The print media is water and chemical resistant making it ideal for outdoor application. For large volumes, Picofilm also allows litho or flexo printing.
"Just think of schools and sports clubs. When it comes to giving everybody a nice looking membership card, nothing is easier and neat looking than this do-it-yourself card printed on Picofilm with the help of an office computer and the colour laser printer connected to it,"said Gandhi.
Enduro range of products will include Enduro, Enduro Ice and Enduro Effect Silver and Gold. Enduro Ice is similiar to transparent paper, which is tear resistant and impermeable to water. This print media is created as a sandwich of a synthetic film with paper on both sides. Therefore, these semi-synthetic print media combine the printability of paper with the durability of a synthetic film.
"Enduro Effect Silver and Gold, are paper-film-paper combination - where there is metalised film as middle layer, either gold or silver, the paper on both sides driven to a minimum thickness such that a light shine of gold or silver glimmers on its surface. Holy Koran has been issued in a luxury edition with Enduro Effect Silver for every single page," said Gandhi.
"Main applications for Endura range involve cartographic printing (production of durable maps), surveillance documents, city-guides and tear-resistant book jackets and covers," concluded Gandhi.
