Prasanna Sahu, director, Barcom Industries, said, “We work for quality conscious print buyers. In-house plate production gives us 100% security and satisfaction, and also best possible plate quality with high precision and accuracy to critical jobs.”

Recently, the label printing company also installed an Esko CDI 4835. Further, Barcom is planning an eight-colour P5 servo press from Mark Andy and 100% label inspection machine, Rotoflex slitter rewinder, with camera inspection system.

“Our motto is ‘come with file, leave with job’ and we offer integral impeccable and innovative labelling solutions. We tried for conventional plate-making, but it is not feasible for a company of our size. The conventional way is time-consuming and neither provides accuracy nor precision,” Sahu added.

He said all kinds of jobs can be done on these equipments. “Now, we are capable of producing most complex multi-feature jobs with great precision,” he said.

Now, the company’s fully equipped plate production segment includes Esko and DuPont kit. All three equipments are capable of producing plates of 35x48-inch and plate thickness can be used from 1.14 and 1.7 mm.

Sahu said the investment will help the company stand out in the industry. “Only a few companies have such facilities in South Asia. It really gives confidence boost to our customers,” he said. “We provide value-added services to our clients and the result will be reflected in our overall growth. We expect around 30% growth in our total business because of the investment.”

Sahu believes in the saying, “With high power comes high responsibility.” He said, “Our customers have faith in us. They trust and rely on us to serve their brands. We have grown at one of the fastest pace in the label industry. Hence, we had to go in for these major investments to be able to live up to our customer’s growing expectations and ensure we remain their preferred associates.”

Sahu, an engineering degree-holder, also has plans to expand geographically next year. An ISO 22000:2005 and Food Safety Certified company, Barcom employees around 85 people in its 32,000 sq/ft facility.

The company prints self-adhesive labels, tamper evident, security, decorative, multi-feature, multi-layer for all major industries like pharmaceuticals, lubes, liquor, FMCG, retail, food & beverages, durables, appliances and others. It converts around 20,000 sq/m of labelstock, 50 kg of inks and varnishes, and 100 jobs per day.
