“In our experience of over 25 years in the industry, we have realised that to be able to serve our customers well, we need to be well organised in-house. We need world-class machines and technologies, inspired leaders and colleagues and also an integrated information system which becomes a framework to connect all our people and processes,” Manish Gupta, managing director, B&B Triplewall Containers, said.
The Corrugated Samadhan fulfilled the last requirement. The system has been running at the company for the last two years.
“What impressed us the most about the software was its understanding of corrugated packaging business and the keen desire to learn more and adapt the solution to suit the industry specific needs,” Gupta said.
Samadhan uses ERP framework Microsoft Dynamics NAV to create a solution. The solution is sturdy, secure and scalable. “We especially liked its user-friendly excel-like user interface, open architecture of the solution and the fact that the framework allows customisation without affecting the basic structure of the solution,” he said.
Gupta said the solution, and the company behind it, is a perfect blend of structured method and flexibility. “While installing the system, we encountered delays at our end, as we were busy streamlining our new corrugation line. Samadhan waited patiently until we were ready. We were happy to be able to get into a good solution and also be able to grow the solution further and adapt it to meet our requirements,” he added.
The company is fully dependent on the solution now. “We use it for two of our manufacturing plants and five warehouses. All of them use one single solution. We have a two-way communication established with the ERP and our BHS line. We now use barcodes extensively in the solution for all items, including our spares,” Gupta explained.
He says it’s a comfort to have all aspects of the business integrated in one single solution. “There is only one version of the truth. There is no reconciliation needed. Understanding what is going on is easy for any one by just logging into the solution. We do not need any meetings any more for this. We are able to exercise controls on the business by building in workflows and approvals. We can be always in touch with the ERP even when we are not in office. The supply chain coordination is excellent because of alerts, emails and fact communication. Customers are happy with our information flow. We meet their complete information needs,” he added.
All this has results in a faster turnaround for orders, for supplies, for inventories and for the working capital. “Once we have this system, growing further will not strain us on account of information system. We just need to extend the same to the new business or outlets,” he concluded.
B&B has an installed capacity of 5,000-tonnes/month within a single facility, and a combined installed capacity of 7,000-tonnes/month, with a combined built up area of 2,60,000-sqft.
