The print CEOs discussed how the print industry had changed, and how they have attempted to evolve with it? Also they discussed how margins have diminished and how the medium sized printer has re-invented the print brand.

The print CEOs who attended the meet were:

Dayanad Sagar of Replica Offset Printers
Dinesh Kundapur of Dinesh Printers
K Soundararajan of Registron
R Parthasarthy of Mayur Graphics
Shashidhar B V of Esscee Enterprises
Sushil Kumar J of Mosco Print
Nagsundar of Geetanjali Graphics
Shivraj Shetty of Mangla Process, Offset

Most CEOs admitted that 2013 was a tough year but at the same time all of them have seen solid growth.

The topics that were hotly debated were: A print-owner wears many hats in an organisation including that off a finance expert. Is this a good thing or a disadvantage?

The print CEOs also shed light on how they planned their fiscal targets for the next year.

There was also a discussion on cost management as well as cut throat competition.

The closed-door knowledge sharing initiative has been possible due to Nagsundar and A Balachandra of Karnataka Offset Printer's Association (KOPA).

Speaking about the role of KOPA as a print association, A Balachandra of Rajhans said, "The need of the Association is to motivate our members to educate themselves in the latest trend in industry. KOPA must also enable them to watch the trends which could be adopted. This is the only association which is doing good for the printers in the country."

This session in bengaluru is a good preview to BMPA's Print Summit show in Mumbai. Faheem Agboatwala and Mehul Desai of the BMPA have planned a session on the importance of profits on 24 January at the Tata Theatre, NCPA, Mumbai. Ramu Ramanathan examines the vexed issue. The panel discussion will feature six speakers. These are: two print owners cum CEOs (A Balachandra of Rajhans Enterprises and P Narendra of Pragati Offset); two firms headed by professional print CEOs (Pramod Khera of Repro India and CJ Jasawala of Thomson Press); and two disruptors (Nilesh Parwani of Vistaprint and Dharti Desai of MOS). The six leaders will be quizzed by Ramu Ramnathan and Mehul Desai.
