Bhutan Printing Solutions focuses on short runs with AccurioPress

Thimphu, Bhutan-based Bhutan Printing Solutions has recently invested in a Konica Minolta AccurioPress 6120. The company said the machine helped it sail through the pandemic where the long-run jobs were dwindling but short-run jobs were on the rise.

“It has helped us strengthen our foothold in short-run jobs in Bhutan. We have been receiving excellent service support from Konica Minolta from day one. Bhutan being serviced from India at times is challenging. However, we have received timely online service and we are satisfied with every problem being managed remotely during the time when borders are closed due to pandemic,” Sushil Mishra, partner, Bhutan Printing Solutions, said.

Started in 2014, Bhutan Printing Solutions is one of the leading printing presses in the digital segment in Bhutan.

Mishra said the company’s first printing press from Konica Minolta was an AccurioPress C3070, purchased in 2020. “We had other digital presses. Although it was a major shift in terms of brand, Konica Minolta did not take time to win our perception and there was no looking back. We were looking for a reliable, cost-effective, minimum downtime machine supported by strong technical support, and Konica Minolta proved to be the ideal choice,” he said.

Mishra said printing activities were on the decline during the pandemic. Also, clients started adopting digital publication and digital-sharing platforms. “However, demand for short-run and quick print jobs have increased. This is a huge shift and shock to the printing presses that are not equipped to carry out short-run jobs efficiently in terms of cost and time. Besides, increasing price and difficulty in procurement of the paper have posed a challenge in keeping printing jobs affordable for our clients. We find that investing in digital presses can solve the current issues. Digital presses can meet the fast and short-run printing demands with less paper wastage,” he said.

The company is now servicing customers who are looking for short- to mid-run jobs which were not as efficiently produced earlier. “We are producing a variety of printing materials with the Konica Minolta presses, ranging from books to labels,” Mishra said.

The AccurioPress 6120 caters to the company’s monochrome print production. “It is a mid-range machine which offers great efficiency. We have added a finisher, paper feeder, relay unit and saddle unit with it. We will be focusing on mid-range output, including book printing and VDP with this machine with minimum supervision. We are excited to introduce a versatile monochrome printing into the Bhutanese market,” he added.

Bhutan Printing Solutions employs 13 people and works from a 3,800-sqft shopfloor, specialising in short- and mid-run printing jobs, mainly books.
