It demonstrated sustainability with a ready-to-use compostable flow pack.

“All the raw materials used in the production of this flow pack are certified according to EN 13432,” said Jens Bauer, sales director speciality papers, BillerudKorsnas.

The biodegradable and compostable flow pack, combining paper with a high-performance bio-coating, provides a complete solution from the raw material supplier to the converter and finally to the packaging line producer. It offers air-tight seal and barrier level compatible with range of dry food applications.

BillerudKorsnas presented the ‘exceptionally strong’ new Billerud flute material for fresh fruits and vegetables as well as fragile heavy goods with a transportation focus.

Additionally, the BillerudKorsnas Axello ZAP paper is said to be the world’s first dust-tight, sealed paper packaging for products such as sugar, grains, flour and pasta. The solution is a combination of BillerudKorsnas’ paper expertise and Bosch’s competence in packaging machinery.

“It is made of a mono-material paper, keeps retail shelves and pantries dust-free, while keeping products tightly sealed and protected,” said Bauer.

“The trend of moving away from single used plastic packaging is also visible in the consumer bags category, and to meet this market demand, BillerudKorsnas is showcasing its range of BillerudKorsnas Xpression Kraft paper at interpack, which guarantees strength and stiffness along with excellent printability.”
