Speaking to PrintWeek, Kai Buentemeyer, a director on Bindwel's board, said, “The digital book printing industry in India is experiencing unprecedented growth, with the company playing a pivotal role in this transformation. Following the successful launch of its Books-on-Demand (BOD) solution, Insta, at Drupa 2024, Bindwel is poised to disrupt the market further. Currently undergoing test runs with India’s leading eCommerce BOD providers, Insta promises to redefine the BOD landscape through its efficiency and scalability."
Bindwel’s short-run bookbinding systems, including the Freedom 2K and Trimit 30C SRT, have also gained widespread acceptance in India. According to Bindwel, these systems address the country’s shift from sheetfed offset to inkjet digital printing.
This transition, driven by diverse sectors such as publishing, digital print bureaus, self-publishing platforms, coaching centres, and educational institutions, highlights the increasing demand for cost-effective and efficient short-run book production. In response, Bindwel is set to unveil its Sprint-Bind, a smart print binding solution, at two major events - PrintPack 2025, India’s largest print exhibition, and Hunkeler Innovationdays.
The Sprint-Bind framework integrates advanced printing and binding technologies to meet the evolving needs of publishers and digital print providers worldwide. Designed for agility, automation, and sustainability, Sprint-Bind can adapt to varying batch sizes, data-driven workflows to enhance productivity and reduce waste, and eco-conscious engineering to minimise environmental impact while maximising profitability.
Other key products at the shows include the Freedom Series Binders for bulk and short-run production and the Insta and Trimit 30SRS systems for micro-production and bespoke publishing.
“As the publishing industry evolves, Sprint-Bind offers a cutting-edge solution for navigating agility, cost efficiency, and sustainability,” said Pallippuram Sajith, managing director at Bindwel. He emphasised that HID will also serve as a platform to connect with global stakeholders in short-run book print workflows, further cementing Bindwel’s status as a global innovator. “We will offer the flexibility of customising these solutions, which will definitely help the medium-scale printers offering short-run book print services,” said Sajith.
