The open house, which will be held from 1 to 6 July 2024 at the company’s Bengaluru factory, will allow visitors to see single-clamp digital binders, books on-demand kits, gatherers, trimmers, and multi-clamp perfect binders in action.
“It’s a continuation of our journey of success at Drupa 2024,” said P Sajith, managing director at Bindwel. “We invite all connected with book printing, publishing and commercial printers to come and witness the future of bookbinding.”
India is the largest consumer of books. And the consumption is spread over a multitude of languages, said Kai Buentemeyer, director of Bindwel, who has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing machines, producing almost half the books consumed worldwide. “It is a wonderful experience to observe in the book factories and warehouses how the publishers and printers - spread over different segments, trade, children’s books and education - are addressing these requirements.”

Besides showcasing bookbinding equipment, Bindwel will also conduct master classes on bookbinding.
“The future of bookbinding is poised for an interesting evolution, as the demand for physical books remains strong in a digital age,” said Sajith.
Innovations in materials, techniques, and design are likely to shape the future of bookbinding, enabling the creation of unique, customised, and high-quality books that offer readers a multisensory experience. Sajith added, “We hope to understand some of the current challenges and provide solutions during the open house.”
