BMPA’s twin events in August
‘Taxes’ is a term that is heard with increasing frequency, particularly before, during and after a national budget is announced. Similarly, the Companies Act 2013 was finally notified in August last year, thereby putting an end to a long wait for a comprehensive legislation that is expected to herald a new era in corporate governance and change the way India Inc functions.

To provide clarity on the subjects, BMPA will, as part of its ongoing diamond jubilee celebration, in association with Yes Bank, host a knowledge session that aims to understand the systems, get an update on the latest changes and its impact on print business, which largely falls in the MSME sector.
“Despite the fact that taxes are classified into direct and indirect taxes, very few of us know what, exactly, these taxes are, because these are governed by enormously complex legislations that run into over 300 sections with several sub-sections. And, there is much confusion in the MSME sector since the announcement of the Companies Act 2013,” said Vishwanath Shetty, a member and coordinator of the knowledge session.
The knowledge session, to be held on 4 August at Sunville Banquets, will feature eminent speakers like Girish Koliyote, company secretary at HDFC; Neel Majethia, chairman of direct tax committee and secretary of Western India Regional Council of ICAI; and Mahesh Kinare, chairman of WIRC of ICAIF for 2013-14.
In addition, the BMPA-Yes Bank combine will also provide an opportunity to avail spot business loan through its YBL-BMPA Spot Business Loan Solution event organised on 9 August in the conference room at Yes Bank’s facilities in India Bulls Finance Centre, Elphinstone Road, Mumbai.
“It’s a one-of-its-kind spot-biz-loan offer exclusively for members of the BMPA by Yes Bank,” said Shetty. “The loan scheme is subject to terms and conditions and stipulations of Yes Bank.”
Deadline for registration to both the events is July 25th 2014. Attendance is free but registration is compulsory. For further information, send an email to admin@bmpa.org
