The highlight of the evening was unveiling of The BMPA Study Tour to Japan in the first week of November. The visit includes a visit to HP Indigo Demo Centre in Singapore. This would be  followed up by visits to the facilities of Sakurai and Komori. In addition, the two Japanese manufacturers will organise visits to their customers.

Nitin Shah of Award Packaging, who has conceptualised the tour, said, "We are also planning a visit to the Toyota Motor Car factory plus a day for sight-seeing." He added, "In all, we expect 35 print firm CEOs from the BMPA to attend the study tour in Singapore and Japan." By the end of the evening, 14 print CEOs and BMPA members had signed up for the study tour and paid a non-refundable fee of Rs 60,000.

All of this was in keeping with the sentiment expressed by the incoming BMPA president, Agboatwala. During his speech, he said, "BMPA is keen to arrange Indian and International field visits based on the past Germany visit and the current Japan one."

In addition, Agboatwala wants to "arrange programs for education of machine operators and supervisors; plus increase the cooperation between other printer's organisations within the city and state." Work has begun on both fronts.

He concluded his speech with a rousing cry that said, "Friends with a strong leadership at the center, business is picking up - my appeal to all printers present is not to succumb to price wars - lets us grow as an industry rather than to grow as individuals."
