The FTP seeks to simplify several tools and schemes for promotion of trade that will bring a much larger section of the Indian businesses into the export arena, by focussing on reducing transaction costs for exports besides extending extending incentives to special economic zones (SEZs) and e-commerce. It expects to make India a bigger player in global trade by doubling its exports to $900 billion by 2019-20 while giving a boost to the Make in India initiative.
“The Indian print industry has allies across the world in almost all the segments of printing business,”said Faheem Agoobatwala, president of BMPA. “The new FTA envisages a number of initiatives which will give a new impetus for making progress on export trade deals."
Agboatwala added that as an association it’s our job to better inform the print community about the benefits of the new policies. “The new FTP has measures that will facilitate trades and encouragement for the private sector to be an effective partner in India’s trade economy.”
Among the topics that will be discussed are: general provisions for import and export and its applicability; amendments and changes; schemes such as Export Promotion Capital Goods, Merchandise Export from India Scheme; changes and eligibility for status holders; new avenues in eCommerce exports; digitisation, eGovernance and online facilities; and highlights of the policy.
The workshop will be conducted by Ajit Shah and Mihir Shah of Universal Connections in the BMPA’s office in Worli, Mumbai. Registration is limited to 15 delegates on a first-come basis and is against payment of Rs 5,000, which includes faculty, handout, all hospitality including lunch and service tax.
Agboatwala said, “We expect this exclusive workshop to fill out quick. I recommend that members act soon to register.”
