The aim of this seminar was to provide a perspective of what the budget had to offer for the MSME sector and various regulations and tax benefits that have been offered by the newly formed government.

The knowledge session featured eminent speakers like Girish Koliyote, company secretary at HDFC; Neel Majethia, chairman of direct tax committee and secretary of Western India Regional Council of ICAI; and Mahesh Kinare, chairman of WIRC of ICAIF for 2013-14.

The session was set into motion by Majethia who deliberated on various topics like, income computation and disclosure standards, amendment regarding investment in new assets by manufacturing company, transfer of shares-taxes.

Being quite optimistic about the budget for the MSME sector, Majethia said, "Look at areas where you can grow in particular. Invest only in tax saving areas and make your compliances strong."

The latter half of the session saw Kinare speak on service taxes and Koliyote giving an in-depth knowledge on indirect taxes and corporate social responsibility.

In addition, the BMPA and Yes Bank provided an opportunity to avail spot business loan through its YBL-BMPA Spot Business Loan Solution event organised on 9 August in the conference room at Yes Bank’s facilities in India Bulls Finance Centre, Mumbai.

“It’s a one-of-its-kind spot-biz-loan as it is an opportunity for members of BMPA to meet the senior functioning officers on one-to-one basis," said Shetty.

Further, he requested the members to submit their returns to Yes Bank to facilitate a study of their individual eligibility.
