BMPA’s webinar on nurturing leadership
Sudhir Sitapati has spent over two decades at the premiere fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company Hindustan Unilever (HUL) leading several marquee deals for the company including the mega-merger of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH) with HUL.

On 31 July 2021 between 11am to 1pm, BMPA’s webinar will host Sitapati, who is also the author of the best-selling book – The CEO Factory: Management lessons from Hindustan Unilever, will share his HUL experience on how to nurture leaders within an organisation. Almost every major company in India has an HUL man or woman at the top, Sitapati wrote in his book, in which he also decoded how the company has been able to create generations of business leaders.
Sitapati joined Hindustan Unilever as a management trainee in 1999 and managed roles across sales and marketing. He was appointed executive director, foods and refreshment in July 2018. Prior to this, he was regional category vice president, refreshment (South Asia & Africa), Unilever. Iconic ad campaigns like Daag acche hain and Swad apnepan ka were created under his leadership.
Sitapati is now set to take over as managing director and CEO of Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL).
According to Faheem Agboatwala, a member of the Share-to-Benefit forum at BMPA and director of Hi-Tech Printing Services, there are many questions raised when it comes to leadership and nurturing leadership – What makes a leader? Is good leadership a solitary pursuit at the top? Can a leader separate himself from his team members, and lose sight of their needs, dreams and ambitions?
