Bobst India holds open house to infix confidence

Bobst India organised an open-house on 10 April, 2014 with an objective of raising the awareness of the technological innovation with Bobst’s high-end machines and how that investing in high productive and reliable equipment producing minimal wastage, is key to be cost efficient in the highly competitive but growing field of packaging.

Bobst India delivered the key message ‘What drives competitiveness – lower investment or better efficiency?’ to 18 packaging printers aspiring to upgrade their converting process, at Bobst India's Pirangut Plant in Pune.

Subhasis Roy, business director, Bobst India quoted, "This open-house is an effort by Bobst team to re-instill the confidence in the customers and show the commitment of Bobst towards the industry."

Roy said, Bobst’s new generation die-cutters Speria since 2004 and Novacut from 2008, have together reached an installation base of 110 in 2013  with a combined installation base of all Bobst die cutters put togather touching 350 plus units , while the Folder Gluers manufacturing which started by early 2010 at Bobst India with the Ambition, Visionfold and Expertfold range stood at 105 machine sold in India alone by 2013 , while the total installed base of all Bobst folder-gluers put together stood at 250 plus machines.

The event saw about 18 packaging printers and convertors marking their presence at the Bobst India's plant at Pirangut in Pune. According to  Roy, the open-house was targeted at customers  who are aspiring to upgrade and automate their converting process, but are currently using manual or semi automatic machines.

In a presentation, Roy demonstrated why today's business environment requires prudent investment in high productive and reliable equipment to obtain greater productivity at lower unit cost of production , but it also requires that capital investments satisfy increasingly stringent demands for a profitable return. “Any investment has to have a business sense, and here’s where printers should know the cost of operation,” said Roy.  

The open-house witnessed a series of live demonstrations on Bobst Novacut 106-E and Bobst universal folder gluer- ExpertFold 110 A-2 and on-floor technical clarifications outlining key differentiators between a Bobst equipment and others.

Among the participant was Firoze Reshamvala of Lucid Prints, acknowledged that costing information is one of the most important resources used at all levels when making operational decision and Indian printers need to know and monitor their costings regularly and much more minutely.

“Unfortunately many do not adhere to it,” he said. “Costing information plays a vital role in decision-making, and if it is not reflected accurately, the cost of what you produce will be distorted. And the possible consequences of this being over- or under-pricing of producing the printed product.”
