Jak Printers seems to have made this Award its own. Winning the accolade for the fourth consecutive time, Jak scored consistently highly across all the four samples of work submitted. Saris Splendor in Threads; Stories in Glass; Ashavans: A Legacy of Leadership; and Vintage Bhopal stood out in terms of production.

Printing a run-length of 1,000 to 2,000 copies of the above works, Jak produced the books on Heidelberg Speedmaster 102S, a 28x40inch six-colour press, plates for which were fired on a Heidelberg Suprasetter platesetter. Proofing was done using the Epson Stylus Pro 9880 with Heidelberg’s Prinect connecting the entire workflow.

All the four samples featured hardcase binds with jacket. The book Saris Splendour in Threads came in for special praise for the unusual metpet foil laminated jacket and the hot foil stamped hardcase cover and the inside pages produced with Sappi-Magno Satin paper. Another submission – Ashavans: A Legacy of Leadership’s special feature included gilding on the edge of the book block. The hardcase cover was themal matt laminated while the jacket was embossed with liberal use of spot UV gloss.

Established in 1984 in a modest building, Jak has over a period of time established a solid reputation for its uncompromising stand on quality, providing services ranging from concept; designing layouts and art-works to scanning; proofing and films to printing; and finishing.

The finished products were well-received by the clients and according to the judges, these were examples of “excellent printing and binding” throughout.
