Book Printer of the Year (Specialty) 2016: Pragati Offset (Tie)

Hyderabad’s Pragati Offset is synonymous with specialty, no two ways about it. The company shares the honour in the category with Mumbai-based Jak Printers.

Five Morsels of Love is a cookbook by Archana Pidathala based on her grandmother G Nirmala Reddy’s 1974 cookbook Vanita Vantakalu. The book was printed on 130 gsm Renoir using CYMK on Komori Lithrone G740, and was section-sewn and perfect bound.

Silver Paintings by Himmat Shah contains photographs of the art works by the Gujarat-born, Jaipur-based artist. The high metallic look and texture of the work is replicated in two gatefold posters pasted in the book with cold foiling and micro-embossing.

Kanu’s Gandhi (Nazar Photography Monographs 03) features photographs of the Mahatma clicked by his grand-nephew in Sevagram Ashram. A special archival print of Gandhi’s picture is pasted on the first page of the book, which is visible through a window in the brown cloth-lined case.

Prabuddha Das Gupta (1956-2012), featuring some of the best works of the celebrated photographer, was printed on 130 gsm Renoir, and was section-sewn and perfect bound. The black and white photographs were reproduced in tri-tone.
