Is book printing your forte?

Printers exhibiting their proficiency in the categories, including Book Printer of the Year (Academic and Trade), Book Printer of the Year (Specialty) and PUR- Book Maker of the Year are examined thoroughly for the quality of the output produced.

The Book Printer of the Year (Academic and Trade) award category calls for sample books being science, technical, medical; and textbook types (books with mono colour or two-colour printed inner pages and multi-colour printed cover).

The Book Printer of the Year (Specialty) category includes coffee-table books, non- fiction works covering history, sports, nature, travel, entertainment, and lifestyles.

The PUR-Book Maker of the Year category includes samples which use PUR hotmelt adhesive for bookbinding. Judges will be looking for these qualities in the submissions. Print firms or trade binders with the in-house PUR book binding facility are eligible to enter into this category.

The jury will search for the top-notch quality of printing merged with precision in binding. Participants will have to submit four different book samples, either case bound or paperback or both.
Last year, Sivakasi-based SFA Print bagged the prism for the Book Printer of the Year 2016 (Academic and Trade), the second year in a row. Whereas, Hyderabad’s Pragati Offset shared the honour in the Book Printer of the Year (Speciality) category with Mumbai-based Jak Printers. Thomson Press won the PUR-Book Maker of the Year 2016 title.
