Brochure & Catalogue Printer of the Year: Pragati Offset

This has always been a competitive category in the PrintWeek India Awards as it lends itself to enhancements and razzle dazzle. This year, Pragati Offset comes up trumps with its unstoppable progress yet again.

The sample Modern Luxury – Victoria Vistas for Salarpuria Signum Complex LLP with run length of 350 is printed on a Komori Lithorne G729 with 200gsm Natural Evolution White as the paper for the inner pages. The case contains 1.2mm Kappa board, black geltex and Stardream copper. The pages are back-to-back pasted on the board and laser-cut on printed and laminated cover with metallic copper paper showing through. The inner papers contain copper foiling with copper edge gilding on three sides.

Two Janki Shah for Prudent Infra-Realty has a run length of 200 and is printed on a Komori Lithrone G740 on 250gsm Galgo Classic White paper. The cover has varnished wooden panels. In pre-press, images are separated in tri-tone and corrected for uncoated paper. Inner pages contain copper foiling. The wooden sheet has a laser etch with a longish accordion fold with full panel pasting at the ends.

D&J Intense Catalogue for Rishab Apparel has a run length of 6,000 and is printed on 170gsm foreign art matt paper. It is a side-pinned hard case bound book with MetPET separators. All images are colour corrected to match fabric swatches and the output is in 300lpi screen. MetPET images are corrected to compensate for contrast reduction. Inner pages are printed on a Komori G740 with coater (conventional) and the MetPET separator along with printed and laminated covers are printed on a Komori G740 with coater (UV). The highlight of the job is that it captures the finer details of fabric.

Rivera Estilo – Legacy of Riverside Living for Evecon Design has a run length of 1,000 and is printed on a Mitsubishi Diamond V3000 (six-colour + coater). The inner pages are 190gsm Mont Blanc FSC mix, 120gsm Leathak White and 400gsm Cyber XL board for sleeve. Post-press contains blind embossing and gold metal cut on printed and laminated cover, blind embossing and gold metal on sleeves with magnetic envelope. The book blocks are pasted back-to-back with hard case cover and the spine is kept exposed. Inner pages have raised UV. The job features CMYK plus two metallic Pantone colours, green and copper.
