Shark LEX is a sophisticated print defect inspection system which features a 2000 pixel camera for use on rewinders and narrow-web printing machines. It can identify spots, web crease wrinkles, smudges, misregister, hickeys. BST Sayona has installed eight Shark LEX 1000 and about 100 Powerscopes over the last year.
Kushal Patel, general manager - sales and marketing, BST Sayona, while speaking about the Splicemaster, said, “We are testing the waters with the Splicemaster, which has inbuilt web control system. It helps in ensuring a continuous feed and cuts down machine downtime. We have already installed 13 Splicemasters at EsselPropack.”
Patel also spoke about the latest trends in the Indian label printing industry, stressing that the per capita consumption of labels in India is substantially lower compared to Western Europe and North America. “The label manufacturing industry in India is bound to post solid growth numbers for the next decade and a half before it reaches the saturation level, at which the western countries find themselves today,” he said.
He added that anti-counterfeiting measures that are being implemented will open the door for new technologies and substrates in the industry. “I believe in the near future, with the influx of technology, smart labels will become the norm,” he said.
BST Sayona also consolidated its position as inspection solutions providers with the acquisition of Germany-based Eltromat.
