Canon breaches the 20 mark in Bengaluru with Imagepress at Vinayaka

N Arvind of Vinayaka Digital Press (VDP) has installed the Canon 7010VP ten days ago at the J P Nagar unit (South Bengaluru). Already, he is pleased with the performance in comparison to the Bizhub. He said, "With the 7010 we have a flagship colour ImagePress that will enable us to explore many more print options."

When asked why he preferred the Canon, he said, "ImagePress is one of the toner-based press to produce tints that look like inkjet output. This is good for a set of brands who are our regular customers."

He added that uptime is as important to productivity as speed and he believes handling colour with pre-press can improve that.

"Pre-press is the key," said Anand. "At VDP on the new Canon we hope to get the colour right the first time. I believe this will save time in production and reduce re-prints. It’s no longer in the eye of the minder, it’s an unquestionable advantage plus a huge cost and time saver."

30-year old Arvind, the son of two government employees, is a case in point about how someone with humble beginnings can create a niche in the print business. Nine years ago, this aspiring cricketer (opening bat and wicket-keeper for a local cricket club) started a basic stationery dealer. Since those early days, VDP has now grown. Presently there are two units at a distance of 100 metres from each other.

The Canon is housed in the main unit of 400 sq/ft which serves as a walk-in store with pre-press design capabilities plus digital equipment; as well as finishing solutions that include cutting, binding and lamination.

The second unit of 400 sq/ft houses VDP's eco-solvent wide format kit from Roland and a solvent large format kit from Apsom for outdoor displays and signages.VDP notched eye-balls due to the glow sign board campaign they printed and fabricated for Syndicate Bank at Gandhi Nagar in Bengaluru. It was a eight feet wide by 80 feet long campaign.

With a lean team of eight to ten, VDP hopes to create a name for itself so that it can command a price. The firm that caters to 200 customers; believes in the adage: "Be friendly with everyone. Give respect to your customers."
