Om was established 15 years ago as a digital firm. Having a Canon refurbished machine at its floor for over 10 years, the firm opted for its first new machine in 2008 from Xerox and in 2010 it bought its first new Canon digital machine and since then the firm has been investing in a raft of Canon presses and expanding its business.

According to Kishor Bodke, who manages the firm along with his partner, there are around 40 digital machines running in Pune and Om Digital is the only walk-in shop with Canon machines. A major chunk of machines would be from Ricoh and Konica Minolta.

Speaking to PrintWeek India on why he opted for another Canon and not any of these machines, Bodke said, “Canon, according to me, provides print closest to that of offset and it is the ideal machine to have in a shopfloor to provide with dummies for brochures and catalogues.” The other reason that Bodke stated was, “ The trend with customers today is that they need more glossy effect on their prints, and Canon is suited to print semi-gloss on any substrate.”

Om Digital in a day churns out around 1500 prints for its walk-in cutomers. It caters to 40% of the print customers in the neighbourhood. Typical jobs that Om takes up are of leaflets, brochures, catalogues and visiting cards.
