At the show, the company will showcase colour and mono presses with solutions and applications running live during the show. The company will also be showcasing its fleet of wide format products.
Puneet Datta, assistant director – marketing and sales, Canon India, said, “PrintPack India has always helped buyers to take their decision for purchase of equipment. And since this is happening after Drupa, it’s time to act now as people have already seen various technologies, and six months is a good time to decide and plan their investments.”
“Digital is the buzz word today. Drupa was also sort of digital Drupa this time. Inkjet digital press is the future and it will be interesting to see how offset printing industry reacts to it, but we need to wait and watch,” he said. “Laser technology has matured and now we can achieve offset like quality with laser equipment. Transition of more and more percentage of prints from offset to digital is inevitable. However, in India offset printing rules the roost and it will continue the same way for many more years to come,” he added.
Datta also said that POD is the answer to high raw material costs and shortages. “POD can really help to reduce storage costs. Digital with value added propositions can help achieve both the objectives of POD and cost recovery as it will help PSP’s to charge more to their end customer rather than getting into price war and putting pressure on profit margins.”
“MIS clubbed with workflow solution and automation, especially in the post press operations, is something which is really interesting to look out for. Manual processes lead to lot of wastage, be it in pre-press, press or post-press. While, workflows and automation help to overcome these challenges, they also need lot of investment. It is up to the press owners to decide which area they want to strength the most. Introduction of digital can also add value to it,” he concluded.
