Canon-sponsored webinar to highlight Avantika and MOS

The work of two award-winning Indian print firms will be highlighted by Puneet Datta, director, professional printing products group, at Canon in a free webinar on 10 September at 3:00 pm.

Datta will discuss digital printing trends, plus Himanshu Pandey of Avantika and Prithviraj Desai of Mail Order Solutions (MOS) will provide advice on how to better the digital print technology applications.
 
The one-hour webinar at 3 pm IST is themed, 'How not to look at digital print from a traditional offset mindset'.
 
In his talk, Datta will also discuss trends in digital printing. "It will all be aimed at new investments, print firms and buyers that are interested in learning how other companies have solved problems using digital print," said Noel D'cunha, managing editor of PrintWeek India.

Himanshu Pandey will speak on the print markets that Delhi-based Avantika caters to:
 
- The corporate segment which requires POD or short-run jobs - Such as printables required in specific upcoming events which can include docket folders, event flyers, business cards, invitation cards, notepads etc.
 
- Publishing segment which requires new authors to publish limit quantity in digital to test waters before official launch or to distribute it to limited quantity of people. Big publishing houses can print out of market books in POD or print jobs which requires exclusivity such as the Gandhi book.
 
- Old books restoration - Old books which require digitisations with limited number of copies.
 
- Photo album - Many more people are printing their memories in formats of books or postcards.
 
- Proofing Segment - All new machines now adhere to Some International Standards(Such as Gracol or Fogra)  which have given an edge to digital printers over pre-press houses.
 
- Personalised merchandising - big companies such as Vistaprint, etc are cashing on digital printing by providing customers with options of personalising things for their use or for gifting purpose.
 
- Technical documentations - Complete projects, such as Alstom which requires complete workflow where different digital devices are involved to compile a document
 
 - Personalised greeting cards - this is a project which Avantika has been working with one of the clients who is launching a domain to sell personalised greeting cards in India with a personal print message on it; having different cards according to the festivities/ occasions.

Prithviraj Desai of Mail Order Solutions (MOS) will speak on:

- What direct marketing/mail actually is, what it does for companies, what kinds of expertise are required for it, and how print plays an integral part in a successful DM campaign.
 
- The digital space MOS is in, and what it does for clients. A bit about how MOS uses digital in conjunction with offset.
 
- The MOS learnings.
 
- Focus on data, and how data management is key to digital printing.
