Better known as Pran, a lot of us will  reminisce him as the creator of the old, wise, moustache man, Chacha Chaudhury and his ally from Jupiter, Sabu. In 1960, Pran began his career as a cartoonist with the comic strip Daabu for the Delhi-based newspaper Milap. However, it was his character, Chacha Chaudhary, which he sketched in 1969 for the Hindi comic book, Lotpot, that brought him popularity among the Indian masses. The series came to be included in various Indian magazines.

Pran also went on to sketch character like Shrimatiji, Pinki, Billoo, Raman and Channi Chachi.

Pran has received a Lifetime Achievement Award 2001 from Indian Institute of Cartoonists and has been included in the list of "People of the year 1995" by Limca Book of Records for popularising comics in India.
