“This is our first Canon production printer after several years and we are happy with the investment as we see it as value for money considering its reasonable capital cost,” said A Sowrirajan, managing director of Adyar Student Xerox.
Started in 1979 and on the verge of shutting down, the ‘single shop’ was bought over by the current owners in 1986 and the establishment has grown into 27 branches across Chennai with more than 200 employees on their payroll.
“Apart from the standard expectation from a machine in this segment, what appealed to us were mainly the smaller footprint of the machine, its capability, bigger print size (up to 13x 24.8-inch), ability to use media with different textures (up to 300gsm) and also much lesser consumption of power,” explained Sowrirajan.
“Most significantly there is also a 20-30% saving in operating costs. I feel the machine lets me save enough to buy another machine by the end of its expectant life which makes it the perfect investment,” he added.
Canon launched the ImagePress C800 as an upgrade to the 70 impression per minute C700, with the brand new Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology.
Adyar Student Xerox which connects all their branches through an in-house ERP and a dedicate PRI line for telecommunication is now actively looking to expand to rest of the state (Tamil Nadu) using the franchisee model.
