China institute to honour Kamal Chopra
In appreciation of his services towards global printing and packaging, especially print education, the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BIGC), China, will award a certificate of appreciation and Honorary Professorship to Ludhiana-based printer and vice-president (North), AIFMP, Kamal Chopra. The award ceremony will be held at the BIGC campus in Beijing, China on 17 October 2016.

In a communication received from the BIGC, Zhang Sheru, dean of studies and director of international cooperation & exchange, BIGC, said, “Chopra has had cooperation with our university for over 10 years. He has also actively promoted and propelled the bilateral development in printing industry, especially print education.”
Luo Xueke, vice-chancellor, BIGC, said, “India is in its prime of overall development. Indian higher education is advancing fast and Indian printing industry is on a rapid rise. All these lay sound foundation for further cooperation. Indian printing Association, AIFMP, acts as a bridge between Sino-India education and printing related industries. Chopra’s commitment, wisdom, and knowledge will surely contribute greatly to Sino-India communication and cooperation.”
A qualified printer and a gold medallist in printing technology, Chopra has many laurels to his credit, including the award from the President of India and Global Print Leadership Award at Chicago, USA by NPES. One of his work, the unique 13 page calendar offering a complete history of Printing that goes back to over 100,000 years, found place in the Printing History Museum in Beijing, China. He was also felicitated at Birmingham, UK by the BUMPSA for his achievements in the printing industry.
Chopra said that it was an honour for the printing industry of India, as for the first time such a felicitation is given to a printer in India. “BIGC is the world’s largest printing institute. On behalf of the people-in-print in India, I would like to thank the vice-chancellor and others of the BIGC for considering me for this honour.
