SIES Graduate School of Technology in Nerul, on 5 February, will host the second round of Seekho aur Samjho edition 2.0. The session in Hindi will cover key aspects of colour matching and troubleshooting associated with it.
Vishnuu Kamat of Advanced Graphic Systems will be the trainer for the session. He will speak about the basics of spectrophotometer and densitometers and their correct usage. "The presentation will also cover ink formulation software and various reasons for the problem in printing," said Kamat.
The Seekho aur Samjho technical workshop series, which is conducted by BMPA along with PrintWeek India, completed one year in December 2015. "The 11 sessions of the first edition received a sound response. In its second edition, the plan is to take it to the next level. The first edition covered basics. Now, we will advance the levels and look at the nuances of each topic," said Faheem Agboatwala, president, BMPA and the main brain behind SaS.
This initiative is co-supported by the Government Institute of Printing Technology, Mumbai and SIES Graduate School of Technology, Navi Mumbai.
The first session of the SaS 2.0 was conducted by Pradip Ghaisas, head of safety at TechNova on 16 January 2016 at GIPT, Mumbai. Ghaisas spoke about the significance of safety on the shopfloor and how it is the most ignored aspect in the printing plants.
Ghaisas said, "Safety from a fire in a printing press is a significant concern. At any given point, we have almost 20 types of inflammable chemicals in the press. These include the blanket wash, kerosene, and other solvent-based chemicals lying around the press. Taking pre-emptive steps is necessary. For example, a guard on a machine is critical and so is to understand the instructions written on a package while using a chemical."
The format of the workshop is a three-hour session including two hours training followed by Q&A.
Agboatwala has requested all the print CEOs to register their staff members for this session. The available 50 seats will be registered on the first come, first serve basis – two registrations per company. For registration purpose please contact: admin@bmpa.org
