This is the first press in Asia, which is equipped with screen printing and cold foiling on rail.

Vivek Kapoor, managing director of Creative Labels, said, "The purpose of our investment in the new Gallus press is two-fold. One, we wanted to invest in the latest technology for high quality and increased production; our current capacity was being 100% utilised and we were facing bottlenecks in terms of delivery. Second, the shorter web path helps us in reducong the wastage, thus saving our costs."

Kapoor added, "We had seen this press in Labelexpo in US. But at that time the press was not equipped with all the necessary features. It was in Brussels, that we saw the press fully loaded. This is the first press in Asia which is geared to print screen and simultaneously do the cold foiling using the rail system."

Creative Labels, which caters to cosmetic and pharmaceutical segments, has 80% share in the domestic and 20% share in the international market. Kapoor said, "As far as the market is concerned, we are happy the way things are shaping up. The new granite-based press will surely have a fair part of success in our growth."

Currently the label converter operates from a 5,000 sq/ft unit and will shift to a brand new 9,000 sq/ft unit. Kapoor concluded, "The present setup has already been audited by our print buyers. The new unit is still to be audited. As soon as we get the audit done we will shift to the new unit, which is bigger and gives us a scope to add more systems."
