1. Where are you now and what can you see?
I am sitting in my office and can see the graphic designers working on the jobs. Ours being a see-through office, I can monitor through the glass pane if something needs correction.
2. What are you currently printing?
This suddenly has become a season of visual aids and there are four of them being printed right now at the press. In addition, we are doing some odd jobs for training material where the printed sheet is pasted on a sunboard and some ‘match the column’ puzzles.
3. Choose a favourite print job / author and say why you admire it.
My favourite job is the reproduction of some water colour paintings, which we accomplished by Hexachrome process. Reproducing water colours is very difficult as the brightness of yellow, green and orange are difficult to reproduce. My favourite is a set of six paintings, which the artist autographed for us as a token of appreciation for the quality of reproduction.
4. Describe your office?
We are a team of about 35 people. While only six of us sit in the office, the rest are either on the shopfloor or in the binding and fabrication section. We have a very informal set up and my cabin is always open.
5. Which is your favourite equipment in the unit? And why?
We have a MOV and a SORMZ. I love these machines and often tell my staff that they need to be looked after and worshipped like our bread-winner God. These machines keep us going and satisfy our customers.
6. Which famous person would you like to print a job for? And why?
None specific. Every job is equally important and I will be very happy to print some souvenirs or coffee table books for a social cause.
