Day-long newsroom workshop as part of Wan-Ifra 2015

If you are waiting for Wan-Ifra India 2015, to be held in Mumbai on 2-4 September 2015, to brush up your knowledge on the Indian newspaper industry, here is some more good news. For editors, and those involved in the newsroom of a newspaper, a day-long workshop on ‘integrated newsroom’ will be held at Hotel Courtyard Marriott, Andheri, on 3 September 2015.

The highlight of the workshop will be Dr Dietmar Schantin, who introduced the concept of integrated process management, change management and customer focus into the thinking of many newsrooms the world over. The newsroom models he developed are found today in many media houses around the globe. 
 
At the workshop Schantin will bring-in case studies from various newsrooms around the world and participants will be able to learn first-hand on how to go ahead with a newsroom reorganisation.
 
In March 2012, Schantin, who served as executive director of Wan-Ifra Newsplex, founded the Institute for Media Strategies, an independent international research and consultancy organisation for the media industry, with the focus on supporting the growth of and the design of sustainable business models for the press media. 
 
The workshop will also cover topics such as newsroom types; newsroom transformation, with examples from newspapers like Die Welt, Kleine Zeitung and Västerbottens Kuriren; the case study of the total makeover project at Kleine Zeitung; among others.

The 23rd annual conference, Wan-Ifra India 2015, will be held along with fifth edition of the biennial Wan-Ifra India Expo. Also, the World Young Reader Awards will be presented during the conference.
 
The conference will feature three parallel summits, ‘Newsroom’, ‘Printing’ and ‘Crossmedia Advertising’, which will highlight some of the success stories from news publishing companies around the world, to provide insights and inspiration to take on the new challenges.
