Uflex has been offering its AMAP (Active Modified Atmosphere Packaging) solutions across the world using Perfotec’s Fast Respiration Meter to determine the Respiration Rate of the fresh produce.
Siva Shankaran, vice president Flexfresh, said, “Initially, the respiration rate of Papaya was evaluated using the Perfotec’s Fast Respiration Meter. Then, Perfotec’s laser system was used to make micro perforations based on the respiration rate, weight and the target oxygen levels for creating the perfect modified atmosphere inside the Flexfresh liner bags.”
Flexfresh’s biodegradable liner bags are manufactured from a special patented polymeric composition and help maintains the equilibrium of oxygen and carbon dioxide inside the bag with an added advantage of keeping the product dry without losing weight.
The Papayas were harvested in the right stage and brought to their pack house. Subsequently, they were sorted and graded as per the stringent requirements for the export market. Flexfresh Liner bags were placed in the box before placing the papaya. The Papayas were prepared as per the export requirement and foam net was used on individual papayas to avoid any surface injury during transportation in a 40-feet reefer container by sea.
CP Yogeeshwara, chairman and managing director of Deccan Field said, “The export of Papayas was a grand success in which optimised packaging played a vital role. We are now planning to export other fruits and vegetables like baby bananas, green chillies, sweet potato, curry leaves, etc using Flexfresh liner bags to Middle East and Europe.”
