The Delhi-based JMD will use EFI’s green technology in the wide-format segment to cater to high-end brands. Anupam Gupta, managing director at JMD, said, “The GS has the ‘cool cure’ LED technology, a Greenguard certified inks, which will allow us to produce jobs more efficiently and faster than ever before while offering more applications at a lower operating costs.”
JMD is one of Arrow’s oldest customers using UV inkjet presses. The company, however, took its time while deciding on which printer to go for, when it needs to invest in a new kit. “We always trusted the Vutek quality, but that wasn’t enough to make a decision,” said Gupta. The company embarked on conducting vigorous tests on all the possible UV printers in the world market.
Among the options, JMD looked at was the EFI-Vutek GS3250LX Pro, a 3.2-meter wide flatbed and roll-to-roll UV printer with an image quality of up to 1,000dpi; a production speeds up to 2,400 sq/ft/hr enabled by the Fast-5 feature. The eight-colour plus two whites have a unique multi-layer white print capability and true grayscale technology allows printing of high definition point-of-purchase graphics.
“We compared the Vutek in terms of quality, speed, adhesion, colours and compatibility on media and what amazed us was it met and exceeded all our expectations, moreover the double white was astonishing, it is way ahead of the competition,” said Gupta.
The GS is capable of handling rigid and sheeted media up to 126.5-inch (3.2-mtr) wide and up to 2-inch (5.08-cm) thick.
Sam Patel, managing director at Arrow, said, “The GS 3250LX is the only production level LED technology, which offers a variety of applications and is cost-effective. Most of the UV-curable wide-format printers are replacing solvent printers for many applications, using less energy, and cost efficient when compared with mercury lamps. LED UV curable printers also offer a safer and healthier workplace.”
