DGM India’s PrintPack debut a super success

The Indian subsidiary, under the leadership of the newly appointed managing director for the Indian subcontinent, Puneet Aggarwal, aims to enable direct sales in local currency, and establish local service support to its customers, and set up a demo centre. 

Aggarwal, said, “The SmartFold 1100PC folder-gluer is a well-established model with hundreds of installations across India, Europe and the USA. We will showcase how folder-gluer settings can be saved and recalled automatically for a repeat job.”

Ten deals at the show

Aggarwal announced the sale of ten products during the show. This included four big-ticket deals with Pragati Pack, Omega Printopack, Packmaax India, and Sattik Packaging. The company also sold four more folder-gluers, one flute laminator, and one foil stamping machine.

Hyderabad-based Pragati Pack has purchased a SmartFold 1100PC folder-gluer, which can process straight line, crash-lock bottom and double wall boxes. It can also handle solid board up to 800-gsm and E, F & N corrugated cartons up to 20-mm folded thickness at the maximum speed of 400-m/min. 

Narendra Paruchari of Pragati Pack said, “We have folder-gluers of all varieties in our plant, except those with motorised and memorised function. These functionalities are need of the hour and we found DGM to be suitable to feed all capabilities that we need with memorised function. The professional and positive approach of the DGM management helped us take this decision in their favour.” 

Haridwar-based Omega Printopack bought the DGM folder-gluer Technofold 1100 PC motorised. The machine has been specially designed to produce three-ply cartons at the speed of 300-m/min. This folder-gluer has 40-mm conveyer belt with upper-gear-driven conveyors. The folding section of the machine is 4.2-m and has extended delivery with pressing station of 3.5-m. 

Team Omega Printopack and team DGM

Sandeep Jain of Omega Printopack, said, “We have bought the folding-gluing machine for our corrugation plant. It will be used for eflute corrugated cartons. We can use it for mono cartons as well. We bought it with extended delivery so that we can produce ready-to-dispatch boxes. The machine will be installed by the end of March. Our total conversion is going to be doubled in coming months and we needed heavy duty machine for that. After adding our new printing press, we will be converting around one-lakh sheets per day and we will require equally fast post-press to synchronise the production. We can print sheets of 28x40-inch and we need folder-gluer where we can convert a box of 40-inch.”

Noida-based Packmaax India, a new entrant to the packaging industry, signed a deal of DGM Smartfold 1100 SL. It is equipped with Gpack for easy collection. This machine is for two process straight line, crash lock bottom, double wall boxes, pouches and envelope and four and six corner boxes. It can be used for a solid board up to 800-gsm and micro-fluted 20-mm corrugated boxes.

Kolkata-based Sattik Packaging finalised a DGM Megafold 2400 C. The machine is motorised with the capability to produce three- to five-ply cartons up to 25-mm folding thickness and solid board up to 1,200-gsm at the speed of 300-m/m. It is equipped with stacker for easy collection and counting. Sanjay Saha, director, Sattik Packaging, said, “Our main business is leather bags manufacturing. Then we diversified into mono cartons and corrugated boxes. Last year, we installed DGM Megafold 1650 for five-ply corrugated boxes. With hands-on experience on the existing machine, we decided to get another DGM. The new folder-gluer will be installed in March. We have added another flexo printing press for our corrugation production. We have noticed that while there was a demand for small boxes in Kolkata earlier, today, the demand for bigger boxes is on the rise.”

Puneet Agarwal, managing director, DGM India, said, “We sold our first machine to Pragati Pack. The deal shows the competence of our products. The memorised function of the machine helps in faster makeready. Once the job is set, we can save the job and can recall at any time. When we recall the setting, conveyors automatically start moving from section to section.”  

A service partner and a demo centre

Established in 1985, DGM has more than 5,000 installations globally. It started a new 13,000-sqm facility in Guangdong Province, China in 2004. The company, which has around 30 machines in India, is now planning to set up complete sales, service and manufacturing facility in India to capitalise on the potential of the Indian market. 

DGM India has appointed Chennai-based Printpack Technologies its service partner for pan India. Printpack Technologies consists of a team of ten service engineers under the leadership of AP Jawaharnath, who has 25-years of experience in packaging post press. 

DGM India is establishing a demo centre in Noida by the mid of this year, informed Aggarwal.
