Digital firms gear up to compete at the PrintWeek India Awards 2012

With the who's who of the print industry lined up, the excitement for the most keenly awaited PrintWeek India Awards 2012, is increasing.

Top digital firms are gearing up to compete for the honour of the Digital Printer of the Year 2012, a category sponsored by Canon India.

In 2011, the category witnessed entries from major digital firms which included Anderson, Avantika Printers, CDC Printers, Mail Order Solutions, Manipal Press, Mazda Imaging, Perfact Color Digital Prints, PM Digital Products, Print On Demand Services, PrintExpressions, Printo Document Services, PrintStop India, Repro India, SV Color Graphics and Thomson Press India.

Delhi-based Avantika bagged the Award in one of the strongest and most competitive segments among the 19 Quality Awards category.

Manipal Press was the Digital Printer of the Year in 2009 and Thomson Press was the Digital Printer of the Year in 2010 and Avantika Printers was the Digital Printer of the Year in 2011. All the three awards were presented by Canon India. As a representative of Thomson Press said in 2010, "It’s great to be recognised as a PrintWeek India winner. It has made our employees feel valuable, gives assurance to customers and attracts future customers too."

The 30-strong judging panel will examine the digital print samples on 28 July at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai.

The jury panel includes some of the biggest brands and print buyers in the country. Once the jury process is complete and the scoring locked, the samples will be showcased for the benefit of VIP invitees. This includes jury members of 2009, 2010 and 2011; as well as print buyers like multinationals, ad agencies, publishers, etc.

Having been involved with the event since its inception three years ago, Canon India’s senior vice president Alok Bharadwaj, said,"With growing economy, the digital print industry is expanding rapidly in India. Canon is pursuing leadership in professional and commercial printing space by partnering with stake holders of this industry’s ecosystem elevating innovative differentiated quality and creativity to an entirely new level.

PrintWeek India Awards is the Oscars of this industry. It certainly is a privilege associating with this prestigious award event and helping the industry set benchmarks."

The deadline for the PrintWeek India Awards 2012 has been extended to 18 July.
