Divya Iyer shares vision for the industry at Print & Beyond 2024
Dr Divya S Iyer, IAS, managing director of Vizhinjam International Seaport, delivered the inaugural address via a video message at the KMPA’s Print & Beyond 2024 seminar. The key points of her virtual message were shared with over 200 delegates at the Holiday Inn in Kochi on 24 February.

During her talk, Iyer highlighted the significance of the printing industry and expressed her optimism about its future. She said, “Focusing solely on printing as a business venture may limit one's perspective and that it's necessary to approach it with a creative and personal touch.”
Iyer also spoke about the importance of the printed book and how a well-produced book is a pleasure to have.
The thriving eCommerce sector depends on packaging, where the printing industry plays a crucial role in shaping this supply chain. “What we need are more collaborative ideas and innovative packaging designs to integrate printing with packaging processes seamlessly, ”Iyer said.
As the managing director of Vizhinjam International Seaport, Iyer announced the inauguration of the port in Thiruvananthapuram in 2024. She spoke about the green shipping port zone and how the KMPA can jumpstart by establishing a packaging hub in the vicinity of the port. “There is a need for an eco-friendly packaging hub,” Iyer emphasised.
Quoting the writer Pico Iyer, she said, "There is no instruction manual for breakthrough technologies." She concluded her talk by emphasising the importance of designing work for a circular economy. “I urge the delegates to focus on environmental improvement while also considering customer convenience.”
