For EFI, the next obvious move after the October 2015 acquisition of Corrugated Technologies (CTI), a provider of manufacturing execution software for the corrugated packaging market, was to come up with a new software for the corrugators. This it did during the EFI Connect users’ group conference at Las Vegas from 19-22 January 2016.
The acquisition and the announcement of Corrugated Packaging Suite are in line with the EFI’s Productivity Suite strategy, which was launched at last year’s EFI Connect.
At the Connect 2016, Gabriel Matsliach, senior vice president and general manager, EFI Productivity Software, said, “We realised that end-to-end workflows would be different for different sub-markets of printing and packaging, so the plan is to identify the right ones for each sub-segment and develop products and certify them. We recognised the opportunity in corrugated packaging market and acquired CTI,” said Gaby.
Expected in Q2 2016, the corrugated workflow combines ERP and manufacturing execution system. So not only does it take care of business aspects of corrugation, but also the looks after the production: scheduling, planning, data collection, stock inventory management, shipment planning, supply chain execution, etc.
Corrugated Technologies (CTI) brings more than three decades of experience in the corrugated market with specialised manufacturing execution software coupled with business and management capabilities for sheet feeders, sheet plants, and full corrugated box plants.
CTI has merged into the EFI Productivity Software business unit. CTI employees, including co-founders and former principals Gordon Hay and Emma Hay, have joined EFI's Productivity Software business unit.
Besides Corrugated Packaging Suite, EFI also launched segment-specific workflows for publication and quick print markets.
