The role of design in all aspects has become integral and has evolved by great bounds. There are no two ways about this. At Eeum: International Design Congress in South Korea, scheduled from 17-23 October, design experts and business leaders from different countries will bring this to the fore.
"As globalisation and technology democratisation blurs the boundaries between cultures, it becomes necessary to preserve the unique differences and present them in a relevant contemporary context," said Ashwini Deshpande of Elephant Design. In the wake of this, the Pune-based design house will represent Indian design at the congress amidst professionals from visual, industrial, interior, service, and interactive design fields.
The three days of the congress will see lectures and workshops and confabulations over design. Elephant's Ashish Deshpande will deliver a lecture at the 'Share and participate in Industries' session and Ashwini Deshpande will conduct a workshop on 'Story telling through packaging design' for young designers from Korea, China, Philipines, Hong Kong etc.
Last year, Ashwini Deshpande, who has brought her design expertise year-on-year at the PrintWeek India Awards Jury table, worked on the India research leg of Colours of Asia, a design project spearheaded by the Design Alliance Asia. The project bagged the Design for Asia - Culture Award - an award which aims to inspire and reflect the design needs of Asia and commend remarkable people and projects that have had a significant impact in Asia.
