The two machines, the SureColor SC-S50600 and the SureColor SC-S70600, are 64-inch roll-fed printers. The SC-S70600 is Epson’s first machine to support white and metallic inks simultaneously at that size.
Beta-testing will be settled after Drupa and Epson plans to launch the machines commercially in September.
The eight- and 10-colour SC-S70600 offers the widest colour range of the SureColor collection, including light magenta, light cyan, grey and orange in addition to standard CMYK.
It can produce a wide range of large-format prints from exhibition displays, textiles, backlit panels to vehicle wraps, wallpaper and labels.
Epson said the SC-S70600 beats competitors for speed, printing at a rate of 27.3m2 per hour in eight-colour high-speed mode and up to 4.1m2 per hour with metallic ink enabled.
The four- and five-colour SC-S50600 caters to the indoor and outdoor signage sector, particularly printers with a high throughput, printing at speeds of 50m2 per hour with twin thin-film piezo printheads that are also a feature of the SC-S70600. The additional built-in dryer cuts production time by ensuring prints are ready for the following stages.
Epson said jack systems on both machines mean one person is needed to load a new media roll and the lever is accessible from the back and front of the machine.
An Epson spokesman said, “The SC-S series caters for any requirement in the signage market. We have the SC-S30600, which is the low-cost machine. Now, we have the SC-S50600, which is the higher-productivity printer and the SC-S70600, which is the creative version.”
