Erhardt + Leimer donates system to Pune's PVG

PVG’s College of Engineering and Technology, Pune hosted an inauguration event on 8 December 2016. The agenda as per the official announcement was: to express gratitude to Erhardt + Leimer India for their generous support to the institute with a donation of a web guiding and web tension control system in gravure lab.

On the occasion, the directors, head of various departments, faculty members and students of printing engineering department attended the event.

The event began with a welcome note by Prof RG Kaduskar, the director of PVG’s College of Engineering and Technology (PVG). He presented an overview of the activities of PVG, a 107 year organisation plus the myriad sections of the institute. He further mentioned that PVG is the only institute in the western part of India offering Bachelors, Masters and PhD program in print engineering.

Seshadri Rajaram, the managing director, and ID Singh, vice president (sales), E+L India were honoured with a traditional Puneri Pagdi, Uparna, and memento at the hands of Prof RG Kaduskar and SP Redekar, registrar and director, PVG. Also, Rajesh Parab, manager (sales) and Vineet Raut, manager (services) and Shreedhar Pawar, E+L India were felicitated by AR Mahajan, the head of the printing engineering department.

Dr Akshay Joshi, the research coordinator, gravure printing department has been instrumental in strengthening the association between E+L India and PVG. He spoke about the journey and the significance installing the web guiding and web tension control system on a gravure machine in the lab. He mentioned that students will get an opportunity to learn about the latest web handling technology. He highlighted that such an association shall help in knowledge transfer and bridge the gap between the industry and institute.

Seshadri Rajaram spoke about the developments in E+L India and how he would like to extend support to the institute with the latest equipment in gravure lab. He emphasised the necessity of improving the standard of print education.

After the felicitation program, the newly installed web handling systems was inaugurated by Seshadri Rajaram in the gravure lab. The inaugural press run was conducted and the working of the system was demonstrated with a detailed explanation by Singh and Parab.
