Ess Dee Aluminium ties up with Chemnitz University

Ess Dee Aluminium, the Mumbai-based specialist in primary packaging for FMCG and pharma, has entered into a technical collaboration with the Chemnitz University, Germany, to develop innovative packaging solutions for pharmaceutical and food industries.

The collaboration was signed by Sudip Dutta, chairman, Ess Dee Aluminium and Prof Dr Andreas Schubert, vice rector of Technische Universität Chemnitz (TUC), on 13 May at Chemnitz.

Dutta said, “The essence of this collaboration is to create and harmonise the manufacturing competencies of Ess Dee Aluminium with the huge research and knowledge bank of the Chemnitz University in the common areas of interest and thus strengthen the Indo-German technical relationship further.”

This tie-up aims at creating and developing innovative and eco-friendly anti-counterfeiting measures for the pharma and food industries.

“Joint study will be done to create a roadmap for detailed areas of research including anti counterfeiting solutions, developing eco friendly printed packages and innovations through different printing processes including flexo, digital and gravure,” added Dutta.

Prof Dr Arved C Hübler, director research pmTUC and architect of the cooperation said, “This partnership will be a milestone in Indo-German Research and will be a gateway for top quality Indian Manufacturing in Europe.”

Chemnitz University, which is a top player in the field of print and packaging and printed electronics, will also work with Ess Dee Aluminium to design test and measurement tasks for the new technology and in product development.
