Himanshu Industries has expertise in warehouses, logistics and handling.
Himanshu Garg, the second generation of the family owned business, said, “Earlier, we had a corrugation plant, but payment was a pain. So we closed the business. We were planning to diversify and found print-packaging a better option,” he said.
On the investment in rigid box machines, he said the rigid box market in India is huge and untapped. “We have multiple segments to explore, including mobile phones, chocolates, traditional sweets, shoes, and cosmetics, among others,” he added.
Big Box plans to invest in four more rigid box machines by the end of this year. “Our target is to have six rigid box machines with us and to touch production of 10 lakh boxes per month. Of these four new machines, two would be Italian and two Chinese,” Garg said.
Presently, Big Box is running its operations in a 60,000 sq/ft premise in Faridabad, 18,000 sq/ft of which is constructed. “We want to serve customers with requirements of 50,000 boxes or more. We are not targeting customers with short-run requirement,” he added.
Garg said as a beginner, the five days he spent at Drupa 2016 was a huge help. “We had to set up the complete plant and Drupa was the best place to gain knowledge about machines and technologies. We will be investing soon in pre-press and finishing segment too,” he said. The company has already invested in APL Machinery’s print enhancement equipment and has applied for an ISO certification.
Sodhisons Mechanical Works, the Indian representative of Zhengrun, has installed 16 machines in India. Three more will come soon.
Other sellers of rigid box machines in India are Anil Agencies, which represents Italy’s Emmeci, SL Kulkarni Cyril Graphics represents Japanese Fuchu and Italian Europrogetti, Ample Graphics represents Chinese Longxingsheng Machinery, Zhongke India and Integriti Consulting, which represents Italian Sate. Kolbus is a new player in the market and showcased its solutions at Drupa 2016.
