According to a representative from Flint, this new flat top dot plate has an increased press uptime due to an optimised plate formulation and the avoidance of ink fill-in. The plate enables cost-savings through low ink consumption due to its high solid ink density and improved ink lay down.
He said, “It’s a solvent-processed plate with a smooth surface designed for facilitating its usage with surface screening. It also provides a good highlight performance for ultimate overall print results due to its hard durometer.”
The plates are commercially available in 045-inches (1.14-mm) and .067-inches (1.70-mm) standard thicknesses and in 35x47-inches (900 x 1200-mm), 42 x 60-inches (1067 x 1524-mm), and 50 x 80-inches (1270 x 2032 mm) sizes.
The inherent flat top dot surface of the Nyloflex FTH digital plate is achieved without additional processing steps or consumable items.
“Exposure with either standard tube or LED UV-A light results in a flat top dot surface on the plate, which can be texturised with surface screening technology to create a customised surface pattern to meet the specific requirements of the printer,” he added.
The Nyloflex FTH has an optimised formulation that imparts special characteristics, including anti-ink fill (AIF) properties, which allow cleaner running of plates and solvent-resistance for a consistent print.
