At Fujifilm, products are manufactured with the printer in mind, says Padmakar Ojale of Fujifilm India
Drupa 2012 was a digital show for Fujifilm like all other companies.

Fujifilm unveiled many products in Inkjet digital technology from its stable, including the Jet press family of Jet Press 720, Jet Press F*, Jet Press W * (* provisional names) and Inca Onset 40i, Acuity Advance, Acuity LED 1600 and Uvistar in the wide-format inkjet segment.
At Fujifilm, products are manufactured with printer in mind and all of them are useful in one or the other way. The most relevant at this point in time is Jet press 720, Acuity LED 1600 and Flenex DLE for narrow web plate making and XMF workflow with its special screenings.
For offset printing, the onslaught of digital printing in any form is a major challenge. For the Indian investors, the dilemma is whether to invest in offset or wait and watch for the advent of digital printers and its adaptability in the Indian market. The most important or critical challenge is rapid devaluation of the Rupee, which is making the investments dearer by about 35% since last Drupa.
Many of our products are available to all the customers right now except the Jet Press F and JetPress W (to be launched by end of 2012).
Visitors at our stand knew what they want for now, keeping a close eye on future. Many of them had their business model in place and were looking at relevant products very keenly.Drupa emphasised the capabilities of Fujifilm in the inkjet arena. And this will certainly have a larger impact on this year’s sales figures. Fujifilm had very strong sales not only in consumables and CTP area but lot of intents for new products to be launched later this year.
Yes, this Drupa was largely inkjet and allied post-press for inkjet printing. But there was also focus on green products in offset. Our own initiative in pre-press area – the SAC system for reduced chemical consumption and XR for waste recovery. Not to forget the developments in processless and low-chem violet polymer technologies. These are relevant to the industry from the point of wastage reduction and associated cost reductions.
My takeaway: Drupa gave Fujifilm India a forum to introduce new products and technologies to Indian customer.
