GBO to bridge the gap between international and local publishers

With the New Year rolling out, German Book Office, New Delhi, has already come up with its itineraries to offer platforms to the Indian publishing industry, to network, learn and grow. The first in the line is Globalocal, a B2B platform integrating networking opportunities, facilitated business meetings, topical workshops, experience zone and expert-led incubators.

It is a two-day power-packed affair placed right before the start of New Delhi World Book Fair, on 12-13 February 2015, at EROS Hotel in New Delhi. The Book Fair is on 14-22 February, 2015.

“In its sixth edition this year, Globalocal will play host to publishing professionals from India and eight other countries to convene and explore new business possibilities while exchanging and updating knowledge of market trends,” said Prashasti Rastogi, director, GBO, New Delhi.

Preceding the conclave, GBO will host a delegation of international publishers from Russia, Germany, Malaysia and Italy to meet and interact directly with key players from various domains of the Indian publishing industry in Chennai and New Delhi.

“Following this, during the New Delhi World Book Fair, at our stall, visitors will be able to take a look at the new books from Germany. We will throw lights on global reading initiatives that encourage adults to read and lead by example in a panel discussion with exponents from Germany, France, Singapore at the Author’s Corner in Hall 8 on 14 February,” she said.

Rastogi added that in an effort to promote books from Germany, GBO is organising a translation seminar in collaboration with Goethe Institut and Pro Helvetia at the New Delhi World Book fair on 15 February 2015.
