GBO unveils experts for Globalocal 2015
With the sixth edition of Globalocal, the B2B forum for publishing and allied industries, all set to begin on 12-13 February 2015 at Eros Hotel in New Delhi, the German Book Office New Delhi, the South Asia node of the Frankfurt Book Fair, has unveiled the names of the experts who will deliver the keynote addresses and experts who will be available for consultations on various and specialised areas of the publishing industry.

A B2B platform integrating networking opportunities, facilitated business meetings, experience zone, expert-led incubators, topical workshops, it is a two-day power-packed affair placed right before the start of New Delhi World Book Fair.
Globalocal 2015 is expected to be attended by national and international publishers, printers, booksellers, digital service providers, agents, aggregators and distributors, who will convene at this once in a year forum to dialogue and do business.
The experts at Globalocal 2015 are
Michael Healy, executive director (international relations), Copyright Clearance Center, USA.
Prior to joining CCC, Healy was executive director of The Book Rights Registry and previously executive director of the Book Industry Study Group (BISG), a New York-based non-profit membership organisation dedicated to improving the efficiency and the effectiveness of the US book industry through the development and maintenance of standards, research, education and information. Before moving to the US in 2006, Healy worked for more than 20 years in the publishing industry in the UK. He has been chairman of the International ISBN Agency, a director of the International DOI Foundation, and he led the international ISO committee that developed ISBN-13.
Peter Schoppert, managing director, NUS Press Pte Ltd, Singapore
NUS Press is the scholarly publishing arm of the NUS, and successor to Singapore University Press. Schoppert is the president of Singapore Book Publishers Association. His specialties lie in high-value strategic communications; public policy discussions in Asia; business, academic and art publishing; internet, mobile and trans-media strategies.
Ronald Schild, managing director, MVB Marketing- und Verlagsservice des Buchhandels GmbH, Germany
Schild studied business administration in Germany, France and Great Britain. He began his career as a product manager in the consumer goods business in London. In 1977, he moved to Frankfurt to head the new e-business division of the German branch of Lexmark. Since 2006, Schild has been managing director of the MVB Marketing-und Verlagsservice des Buchhandels GmbH, which is an economic subsidiary of the Borsenverein.
Sebastian Posth, Managing Director,Publishing Data Networks GmbH, Germany
Posth founded the Publishing Data Networks in July 2013 along with Harenberg Kommunikation, the publisher of 'Buchreport' and a 100% subsidiary of SPIEGEL-Verlag. Posth has been working as a publisher, consultant and entrepreneur in publishing industry since 2004 with a strong focus on eBooks, digital distribution, eBook retail marketing and data monitoring.
Renate Reichstein, rights director, Verlagsgruppe Oetinger, Germany
Since 1989, Renate Reichstein is rights director of Verlagsgruppe Oetinger, the second largest publishing house of children’s books in Germany. Erich Kaester, Cornelia Funke, Christine Noestlinger, Paul Maar are some of its important authors. Verlagsgruppe Oetinger is one of the major vendors of licences amongst German publishing houses.
R Sriram, co-founder, Next Practice Retail, India
R Sriram’s passion for books led him to establish bookstores across India. He is now best known as the co-founder of Crossword. Walden in Hyderabad (1990) was his first entrepreneurial venture, while he found his first calling at Landmark, Chennai (1988-89). He stepped down from Crossword in August 2006 and co-founded Next Practice Retail that offers business design, incubation and consulting services for consumer and retail businesses.
Emma House, director of publisher relations, UK Publishers Association, UK
House is a specialist in book and journal publishing with over 11 years of experience in book publishing and six years in magazine publishing. She runs the PA’s boards on all aspects of publishing - academic/STM, education, trade/consumer and international. She is responsible for PA anti-piracy enforcement campaigns in overseas territories and develops overseas business opportunities for UK publishers.
Ramesh Gaur, University Librarian, JNU, India
Gaur is the project coordinator for a project “Development of digital repository of Indian cultural heritage” under the project “Centre for Excellence on Digital Preservation” of NDPP. He was honored with IASLIC - S M Ganguly Best Librarian award in 2007, Satkal Young Librarian award in 2009 and SRFLISindia Professional Excellence Award 2013.
The keynote speakers at Globalocal 2015 are:
Irina Prokhorova, editor-in-chief, New Literary Observer Publishing house, Russia
In 1992, Prokhorova established the publishing house, which at present comprises of three scholarly periodicals, and publishes over 80 books per year on literary criticism, philosophy, history, cultural and interdisciplinary studies, contemporary Russian prose and poetry.
Prokhorova will speak on the topic, ‘Look at Russia’. Russian-Indian ties have been longstanding and are acquiring a new lease of life through strategic partnerships.
Sameer Shariff, founder & CEO, Impelsys Inc, India
Shariff drives Impelsys’ business vision, strategy, value and growth. Impelsys is his second start up and he has grown the company into a leader in online content delivery for the global publishing market. Impelsys' products and services help over 300 publishers with their online content delivery strategy.
Shariff will speak on ‘The evolution of ebook delivery: Transforming the eBook into smart content.’ While the printed form continues to exist, eBooks and related platforms allow for newer ways of consumption. Shariff will talk about publishing methods with a multi-channel approach.
Amit Rotbard, general manager, Babel Publishers, Israel
Rotbard focuses on translations from French to Hebrew. She also teaches editing at Beil Berl College. On the topic, ‘Changing the direction: From global to local,’ Rotbard will talk about a model for publishing in a global market, based on collaboration between two or more publishers from different countries which doesn't necessarily aim to change the basic rules of the current market, (although the rules may change as a result), but to be carried out with and parallel to them.
