The firm now produces 50,000 books a day from the 15,000 it used to prior to the installation.
Anup Dwivedi, managing director, GH Prints, said, “We commissioned the Komori printing press as it had impressed me with its quality when we used to outsource our work. On the other hand, it is a fast machine which has helped improve our turnaround time with customers."
Dwivedi, a printing engineer with an experience of 20 years in the industry, has earlier worked at Thomson Press, Reader's Digest and the Outlook Group. He established GH Prints in 2008.
The 6,000 sq/ft Okhla facility houses ten in-house printing units and consumes 1,200 CTP plates and 200 tonnes of paper per month.
GH Prints has constructed a 12,000 sq/ft building in Greater Noida for a separate book printing and manufacturing unit. Six-clamp binding machine, three knife trimmer, folding and cutting machine including a CTP will be some of the new machines added at this facility.
The printing company caters to book publishers like Pearson, Oxford University Press, Sage Publication, UNICEF, NBT and other leading companies such as Jaypee, Eldeco and Riva.
Talking about the digitisation of books, he said, “In India, there are millions who are illiterate and in the process of being educated. Books will be their first priority for learning which will be followed by online. Digitisation does affect the market but the demand and growth balances it," added Dwivedi.
“Books and packaging are two of the most growing segments in the printing industry. The primary reason for entering the books segment is that the investment and space requirements are lesser as compared to packaging, Right now, we foresee around 20% growth in books printing and manufacturing,” added Dwivedi.
The company which has a staff of 40, achieved a turnover of more than Rs 4-crore last year and is targeting to achieve Rs 8-crore this year.
