At a glance: HT Burda plant at Greater Nodia
The HT Burda plant at Greater Noida is perhaps one of the first rotogravure printing facilities in India.

Anjan Mazumdar, assistant vice president, technology, modernisation and quality, stated, "the groups print 100 million catalogues every year for three brands— Direct Delta, Outiror and Oye Oye—Outiror is the leader in France for ‘market on wheels’ retail selling."
The rotogravure presses at HT Burda have the capability to print at high speeds premium quality variants such as catalogues, books, annual reports, journals and other outputs of virtually any size.
Mazumdar said: "The €16 million (about Rs 100-crore) contract is one of the largest single printing contracts in recent times in India."
What is really impressive at the unit is the perfect binding kit which HT Burda possess. This is a 30-clamp Kolbus (model KM 412B), which they purchased in 2009.
The highpoint at the unit is, it has PUR adhesive application systems attached to it. This includes two systems as against the norm of one. It has two Nordson EP48V PUR slot coating systems, with 200 kilograms of PUR drum dispensers.
Sanjeev Sharma, senior manager, production explained: "We’ve two systems because when one gets over, the other is connected and work continues without a break." Well, with a minor break, if at all.
Another interesting fact is, HT Burda has a signature of 92 pages (A4) because of the gravure machines, which they have. This would normally be 16 pages on a regular offset press. A signature of 92 pages reduces the total number of signatures in a book from the regular.
PUR is ideal for difficult stocks for perfect binding. It has an elongated cure time which creates an advantage vis-a-vis the regular perfect binding glues.
