The lifetime achievement award is named after Brian Platte of IBM, who defined a general purpose document and information presentation architecture known as advanced function printing (AFP), which became an industry standard.

Müller is recognised for his more than 20 years of commitment and contributions that significantly advanced the digital document industry.

Purnendu Mohanty, managing director - India and SAARC at GMC Software Technology, said, “During my past association with Rene ’Muller over last four years, I can vouch that Rene’ was always focused on three key things which was performance, passion and perfection. He built GMC from scratch and his passion for making it one of the best players in world was mainly due to his focus on product innovation and quality standards in R&D which is one of the best today in this domain.”

“Secondly he was very instrumental in retaining the best talent as he is a great team builder and who would always spend time to listen new ideas and advocate his thinking that can add values. Probably very few know that GMC defect density standard which was one the key driver of pushing this solution to such heights. Third factor which could differentiate GMC from others was, Rene believed on hiring the best people in industry to GMC and open offices across different regions. Today, in all most geographies, GMC operates almost everywhere," concluded Mohanty.
